Raka, The Cave Boy
A cave boy enters a cave, the secret place of the Gods… He will travel to the future, finding his way all the way to the fabulous city of New York during a Holloween night. Would he survive the city? Would he find help to get back home?
Raka The Cave Boy

Many years ago there was a cave boy named Raka. He lived in the Village of Azatlan lived with his mother and father. Raka was very popular in the village because he loved to tell stories about dinosaurs. He entertained not only the other children, but also the elders of his village. Most of the time, Raka used to play by himself.
One day, Raka was pretending that he was running away from dinosaurs, he ran so far that he found himself in Mana, the sacred cave where the Gods live. Raka became very curious about that magical place. He went inside the cave and as he walked through it, he heard sounds that he had never heard before. [dinosaurs sounds]
Raka continued walking with caution until he saw pterodactyl flying above him. [pter. Fying sound] Raka got scared and started to run and run until he got lost inside the cave. Then Raka finally stop, he was breathing very deep [breath deep], he knew then that he was lost.
What should I do? Thought Raka.
Then he felt the earth shaking softly. He tried to walk, but the ground started to open and the earth begin to shake harder and harder [earthquake sound). Raka saw a bright light and he ran toward it as fast as he could. Raka ran so fast that all of the sudden he found himself out of the cave.
“I’m out, I’m out” Shouted Raka!
Raka didn’t recognize anything around him.
“I’m lost again!” Thought Raka.
Then as he was walking, someone touched him on his shoulder! Raka jumped high above the ground in fear.
There was a little girl named Briela. Raka looked at her very closely, he didn’t know that girl.
“What’s your name” asked Briela. “Taka shame rocta, teca” replied Raka. Briela looked at him “Do you speak English? Habla espanol? Asked Briella. ”Taka shame rocta, teca” replied Raka.
“You have a great Halloween custom! Where did you get it!” Asked Briela.
Raka continue saying the samething to Briela again and again. [take shame rocta – 3 times in the background].
I don’t have a Halloween custom, hey but we can go to the city, I may be able to get one from the garbage, said Briela.
Briela thought that Raka was just a lost boy from Mexico who didn’t speak English, but Briela didn’t care about that, she was a homeless orphan who lived in the streets.
Raka followed Briela, but all of the sudden he stopped… he saw something that he has never seen before.
What was that place? Thought Raka as he pointing at the city.
Briela smiled.
It is New York, said Briela.
Raka refused to continue walking, but Briela grab his hand and told him that she won’t let anything happen to him. [city sounds]
Raka thought that those tall buildings were some kind of stone dinosaurs Gods.
[sounds of honking and cars] Raka was very scared; he had never seen cars or traffic lights. [sound of blind sound to cross] Rake looked at crossing light [take shame rocta 2 times] and started talking to it and hitting it. Briela grab him from his arm and pulled him away from it.
You’re funny! There is no bird inside that’s a light [take shame rocta] said Briela.
Then Briela saw a toy store and thought it would be fun to go in, play for a while and get some Halloween candy. Raka and Briela enter to the toy store and as they entered, Raka saw dinosaur toys, he got closed to them and when he was closer, the toy dinosaurs started to roar [roar dinosaurs sound toys]. Raka went crazy [Raka: shame rocta] He started to throw the dinosaurs away and roar at them [Raka roars]. Briella desperately tried to calm Raka down showing him that those dinosaurs were only toys and wouldn’t hurt him.
“Don’t they have these kind of toys in Mexico?” asked Briella.
But Raka didn’t stop [Raka: same rocta tutu sama] and the store manager called the police .[police car sound].
Soon the police arrived and took Briella and Raka to the New York precinct. After interrogating Briella and trying to interrogate Raka, they concluded that Raka was definitely not from Mexico as Briella told them, but they wonder about the language Raka was speaking.
Then one officer said “ I think this kid is mentally ill, why don’t we call a doctor?”
Soon Dr. Amel arrived, after talking with Briella and observing Raka, he decided to take Raka to the hospital for more testing.
Dr. Amel gave Raka some water paint and paper and left thinking that perhaps Raka would write or draw something that will give him a clue…
Minutes later Dr. Amel came in and saw Raka’s drawings all over the walls. His drawings look like ancient drawings found in caves. Dr. Amel recalled seeing these kinds of drawings in a museum before, so he called an archeologist. After the archeologist checked and run tests on Raka, he decided that Raka was not only, not from Mexico but he was not from this time either…
Briella was very sad to see Raka locked up. She asked Dr. Amel to help Raka. He felt really bad for Raka! Dr. Amel knew that if indeed Raka was a cave boy, he will spend the rest of his life locked up and being tested, but there was nothing that he could do for Raka.
But Briella was not ready to give up, she decided to help Raka escape.
That night, Briella was allowed to say good bye to Raka, so she draw few pictures for Raka so that he could understand what to do. The drawings explained that when the moon was up on the sky, Briella would take the power off and the door to the room would open, so Raka could then run out and be free.
That night Raka looked out of the window and saw the moon up in the sky, then all the lights went out, so he run out of the room. Then Briella met him on the way and lead him out of the hospital. As soon as they were out the alarm went off. Briella and Raka run as fast as they could. ..
Later that night, Briella took Raka to the same place where she found him hoping that he could find his way back home, but she noticed that there were police cars around that area, indeed they were looking for Raka.
As Briella and Raka blend in with the other trick or treaters’ Dr. Amel appeared and told them to get in the car.
“I’ll help you, I don’t want him to be locked up either” said Dr. Amel.
Briella and Raka got in the car and left with him. But few miles away from the cave, Dr. Amel noticed that there were some police officers checking all the cars passing by. So he told the kids to hide.
After they passed the police checked point, they got out of the car and head toward the cave.
When they arrived to the cave, they noticed that it was blocked by big rocks. Raka looked very sad.
Then an earthquake hit and the cave re-opened. Briella hugged Raka and gave him a medal that her mother had given to her when she was a baby, the medal had engraved “Madeline” in the back. Dr. Amel looked at the medal and asked Briella where she had found it. Briella explained that it was a gift from her mother. Dr. Amel look in the back of Briella’s left hear and saw a birth mark…
“ you are my granddaughter” said Dr. Amel.
Briella hugged Dr. Amel while Raka looked puzzled. Briella tried to explain Raka who the Doctor was to her, but he looked more confused, then Dr. Amel gave him a pocket watch that had “Madeline” engraved in the back, just as the medal. Then Raka understood that somehow Briella and Dr. Amel Were related.
The police was approaching and Dr. Amel told Raka to go before the police could get him.
Raka rush into the cave, then he turned around and wave good bye… Raka entered the cave and the cave closed up again…
Raka walked through the cave and got very tired, he decided to rest for little while before he continue his way back home. Later, Raka was suddenly awake when someone grab him from his shoulder. [Raka: screams] .
“Calm down Raka is me, your mom” said Raka’s mother.
Raka hugged his mom and noticed that there were other people there. [people sounds] Raka started to tell them about this place on the other side of the cave where people lived inside dinosaurs and had tall skinny dinosaurs with red and green lights. [people laughing].
“It is true” said Raka, but nobody believe him.
“Raka, it was only dream ”said Raka’s mother.
But Raka knew that it wasn’t a dream so he continued telling them about a girl that was not afraid of dinosaurs, that she played with them and make them roar… [people laughing].
“Raka this is just another one of your made up stories, come on let’s go home” said Raka’s mother.
Raka looked up, he knew that no one would believe him… then everyone started to walk back home.
“ Raka, let’s go” said Raka’s mother.
Raka look down and notice the pocket watch that Dr. Amel had gave him. He picked it up and run toward his mother. He wanted to show it to her to prove that he wasn’t lying, but when he got closer to his mom, he decided not to show it to her… he decided to make this his secret.
Raka put the pocket watch inside his clothing, hold his mom’s hand and walked out of the cave…
